A lot of heart and soul has gone into turning what was once a modest guest house with only 9 rooms into THE Resort with contemporary suites, a vast spa and culinary delights in the restaurant area.
And now, Mr Reiter, you have created a signature fragrance together with DOMI sense that fills all areas of the hotel with its unique aroma. What inspired you to design a scent for your business?
Daniel Reiter, Managing Director:
As hoteliers, we sell emotions. We have always believed in introducing our guests to a wide range of sensory experiences through gourmet cuisine. A number of good examples include taste sensations from visiting our restaurant, feeling the warmth of a massage or a sauna session and basking in the picturesque sunsets against our mountain vistas; in summary, all these experiences create the “Reiterhof feeling” that our guests immerse themselves in during their stay. The scent is meant to capture this experience and transport our guests through their sense of smell.
What memories or images should the fragrance evoke? Are there particular features of the hotel or the landscape surrounding this stunning resort you had in mind when designing the scent?
Daniel Reiter, Managing Director:
The fragrance was inspired by the multi-layered emotions I just mentioned that fully encapsulate our hotel. From pure elegance to a sense of calming tranquillity all the way to the unique relaxation of being close to nature - the aim was to bottle up all these experiences and turn them into a scent.
Speaking of taking the scent home. Whether they’re looking to bask in the memories of the gorgeous mountains, the stay at your wonderful hotel, the relaxing moments in the spa - you opted for our reseller package so your guests can now take these memories home with them. How have they responded?
Daniel Reiter, Managing Director:
Our guests have always enjoyed taking small souvenirs of their stay home with them. Whether it be regional delicacies from our restaurants, our exclusive beach bags for cosy wellness evenings or the incredibly soft blankets they wrap themselves in when spending the cool winter months on our terrace. The feedback we receive is that they can now also take these memories home in fragrance form.
You’ve taken your brand to a whole new level with a signature scent that will stay with your guests for years to come. If other companies are looking to do something similar, i.e. create their own scent, what advice would you give them?
Daniel Reiter, Managing Director:
To create a dedicated fragrance, you have to know the product, that special holiday feeling like the back of your hand. If you have an innate understanding of your hotel, you will intuitively gravitate towards the right blend of aromas.
